The Ellwood Experience
Ellwood Steak and Fish House is a locally owned restaurant with an upscale feel, proud to be part of the evolving dining scene in DeKalb, Illinois. Located on Sycamore Road across from Market Square Shopping Center and close to Northern Illinois University, it brings together refined food, thoughtful drinks, and attentive service in a setting designed for comfort and ease. The 1879 Lounge, tucked inside with its own entrance, adds a distinct space to unwind.
The kitchen highlights chef-driven dishes such as filet mignon, parmesan crusted sea bass, and a rich spinach and artichoke dip that opens the experience with depth and warmth. Inside, soft lighting and polished wood finishes create a candlelit atmosphere where guests settle in, enjoy daily lunch and dinner features, and return for a relaxed, well-paced meal, including dinner favorites served all day on Sundays.

Very yum! Great place for special occasions. I went on a date night and had a fantastic time. We shared plates and enjoyed everything - drinks, food, and service. Had the octopus which was on special and was very good. Highly recommend the lamb, it's exquisite.

If you are looking for a little more upscale in Sycamore, this is a great place. Our favorite place to celebrate special occasions or meet with friends. There can be live music, but I've never been there when it was happening. Otherwise, it's an easy place to talk.
